SF Series Salt Mist Filter

Purpose

The water and salt fog from abroad or offshore platform air inlet are main source of corrosion for marine equipment, The corrosion rate of equipment offshore is normally 3 to 4 times higher than that of equipment ashore The corrosion will directly affect the normal operation of such equipment, reducing the service life thereof The SF series salt fog filters manufactured by the company are mainly used at the air inlet of the machine room for ventilation or at the most front end of new air mouth of air conditioner. Moreover, It may be applicable to any places with natural ventilation.integrating with such functions as moisture separation and filtering water. alt fog and dust from the air, in order to ensure that the air entering the compartment has very low causticity and higher cleanliness. providing a good protection for the equipment under normal operation and prolonging the service life of such equipment.

Structure and Principles

The salt fog filter is mainly composed of housing, fog moisture separator, primary efficiency filter, medium efficiency filter, reducing joint, pressure gauge and pressure controller. The housing is generally made of stainless steel.

Principles: Through the tortuosity of corrugated multiple water-retaining board and the patented pneumatic forming in the fog moisture separator.the airflow from the inlet can constantly change its direction. Under the action of inertia. the water-drops in the airflow can constantly collide wit the boards, or be attached to the boards, or fall on the casing due to gravity, thus eliminating more than 90% of water-drops from the air. Later, the salt fog, dust and partial moisture in the air are intercepted down by the subsequent primary and medium-efficiency filters. Thus. the moisture and salt fog can be effectively removed so as to ensure that the air entering into the compartment is clean and non-corrosive.

The filter is divided into medium efficiency filter and primary efficiency filter. The medium efficiency filter is a high efficient filter made of imported barrier-free glass fiber, which is characterized by low resistance and high efficient filter performance, so as to reduce the energy consumption. Its filter efficiency can reach more than F8 and the filter participles can be up to 0.1 um. Such kind of filter has also had the functions including corrosion resistance and water-proof.

Pressure gauge may measure the pressure difference of both ends, the pressure controller may control the start of shutoff and alarming according to the given pressure difference.

Performance Indexes of Salt Fog Filter

(1)The head-on wind velocity shall be controlled ranging from 2 to 4m/s,the initial resistance of salt fog filter shall range from 120 to 160Pa and the final resistance is about 400Pa.

(2)Filter efficiency: Fine particle: 5um, efficiency:100% and total efficiency may reach F8 or so.

Maintenance of Salt Fog Filter

(1)All the filters may be removed from the side. The dust on the surfaces of both the water-retaining board and on the primary and medium-efficiency filters shall be eliminated regularly every about three months.

(2)The pressure value on the pressure gauge shall be often observed. When the pressure difference is approaching the final resistance and the pressure cannot be reduced greatly even if the dust on the surface of filter is removed. the filter shall be replaced and the primary filter too cleaned.

Determination on the Structural Dimension of Salt Fog Filter

Since the velocity of filter, resistance and overall dimension shall be determined successively according to the inlet and ventilation rate, and the duct and inlet transmission joints of a user, they are subject to the approved drawing. If only to remove the moisture from the air, it is okay to directly use the moisture separator.
